Essential road works for New Tyne Crossing
Roundabouts Link Road Closure From midnight on Saturday 28th June 2008

NEW TYNE CROSSING UPDATE

As we continue our progress in the New Tyne Crossing Project, the following essential road works will be taking place.

Roundabouts Link Road Closure
From midnight on Saturday 28th June 2008, the link road between the Northumberland Docks Roundabout (at the bottom of the East Howdon Bypass/A187, ‘Gregson’s Roundabout’) and the Tyne Tunnel Roundabout (at the bottom of the A19) will be permanently closed.

Clearly visible diversion signs will be erected to ensure drivers can continue to reach their destination with minimal disruption. Diversions will re-route drivers on the A19, A193 and A187/East Howdon Bypass, and will be in place for Tunnel users wishing to access and leave; East Howdon, North Shields and Wallsend.

Howdon Bypass Lane Closure
Simultaneously the Northbound Dual-Carriageway of the East Howdon Bypass will be closed to allow for works on the Howdon Landfill site to be conducted safely by Bouygues TP and their subcontractors. The East Howdon Bypass will therefore be restricted to one lane each way for the foreseeable future.

Thank you in advance for your co-operation.
