Tyne Tunnels - Educational Resource Pack

This pack was produced as part of a collaborative project involving Tyne and Wear Passenger Transport Authority, Tyne Tunnels, Tyneside Training and Enterprise Council, South Tyneside and North Tyneside Education Business Partnerships.

The Tyne Tunnel pack has been designed with the literacy hour in mind and comprises of two big books, four sets of workcards, three posters, a board game and a Teacher’s Guide.

Informative and interesting, this valuable resource for the primary classroom can be used to teach all National Curriculum subjects across key stages 1 and 2, most prominently History, Geography and English.

The key stage one book ‘Through the Tunnel’ is a delightful story about a family’s journey through the Pedestrian and Cyclist Tunnels. The key stage two book ‘Tunnels Galore’ takes its readers on a chronological journey from the early crossings of the Tyne to the future building of the second Tyne Vehicle Tunnel in 2006.
